HSVROC 2007

Text for a pic is under the pic, sequence is from top to bottom, click on a pic for a larger pic.

Look out folks, Don VSP made me editor this year!!! All facts may be fictitious!!!!!!! GBG And we don't need a repeat of 2002!!!

Don wanted to lead off the blog with this pic. The S. Lake Tahoe fire was luckily after the event was over.

Earlier this year there was a fire in the attic of the Casino and Restaurant building. Well the remodel was not done. So this year we had to scramble for food. We had become spoiled by the 24/7 Coffee Shop right at Topaz Lodge. All turned out fine, Linda and Mario fed us hot dogs on Friday and Saturday was a steak dinner.

The bikes are starting to arrive on Thursday evening. Good start to a great weekend!!

One of the Friday rides was Slots taking folks up the back side to Virginia City with a stop at the Wabuska bar. The bar has stood in the town of Wabuska, Nevada amidst the hay fields since 1881. Damned few folks (and certainly no HSVROC folks) know of it's existence...but it is a nice oasis that Slots included on his saloon tour during HSVROC 2007. Flyin' Willy sampling the beer!!!

Of course a pickled egg had to go with it!

A pic of the group in front of the bar's somewhat rudimentary exterior sign ( I particularly enjoy the invitation to Avon salesmen along with bikers )

Friday evening, Linda Sublow already selling Raffle tickets.

Mario giving some "pointers" to John Becker, probably, "the driveway is thataway!!!" GBG

Linda on her scoot loving up Frankie her pouch!!! Nice looking bike too!!

Flyin' Willy having one of those great dogs!!!! They were excellent!!! Great beans too!!

Lisa “Rubbergator” trying to get a handle on that thing.

Bob, Tiny, Howard and Roy letting the hot dogs settle.

Mike “Gone Mad” from Calgary takes Linda and Mario posing.

The group is warming up for a great evening!!

Slots, I just know he's talking about tomorrows ride!!! Look at that pose!!!! I KNOW he's telling someone where to go!!! GBG

LAS rode her bike the 22 miles to Gardnerville and brought back 5 large Round Table pizza's in two of their delivery bags strapped to the back of her bike, Boogar. Tiny took the delivery bags back to Gardnerville Saturday as LAS was leading her Cat House Ride.

LAS is just to the right of Don, on the end, and many folks thank her for the treat!!! Now I want to hear the story of the Boogar license plate??? GBG

People getting ready in the parking lot for their Saturday Rides.

Along the road to Carson City and a breakfast stop.

Saturday ride was first to breakfast, we stopped at Fandango's Casino.
We had about 40 bikes so it was interesting going thru town, but we did fine. LAS was in the lead.

Linda, Mario and Red Beard (ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!) The rest went to the
buffet, we just wanted a smaller meal and went into the restaurant. Linda and Mario bought breakfast!!! Thanks!!! It was great.

LAS took us for a tour of the local "houses" just out of town. I think we lost about 5 riders there!!! And on to Virginia City..

Jim Murray from Calgary emailed a few closeup photos of the "houses"!!
(and again, thanks to all that sent photos, it was a GREAT help!!)

Maybe this is one of the riders we lost!!! GBG

Jim also caught this shot of the "infamous" Bucket.... Well, you can read...

AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Baskets of Candy!!! This one is for Sherm!!! He loved that store last year!!

The rough old days, all in plastic, I'm sure!! GBG

We stopped for a photo op... we went out the back way from Virginia City. It was down the Geiger Grade. A bit of fire off to the left.....

The group starts arriving Saturday evening at the Convention Center for a Steak dinner.

Folks were eating up a storm!! Pretty decent food for ten bucks! Steak, beans, salad and corn on the cob

Eric, Paula, Debbie, Grumpa and Slots

Rubbergator and Cat giving the Vulcan sign.

Cat and Jim, Looks like Jim has already picked up something.

The Washington crew with the Vulcan sign.

Grumpa picking out a goodie.

Looks like a bumbershoot is going to Canada!!!

Lisa won a couple bottles of wine, and she was flashing her....OK, not going there....

Cat and Jim ready to pull out on Sunday… All good things must end some time.. Think there’s a song about that. Turn out the lights………..

And so ends another great visit! We survived quite well without the casino or restaurant.

The weather was just perfect!! Nice days and cool nights, no storms and it was early in the summer and I didn't notice ANY mosquitoes!!
